Read Like the Devil: 3 Foundation Courses à la Carte

from $200.00

After 6 years of a break, Camelia Elias returns to teaching the popular foundation courses in a brand new format that serves both beginners and routined cartomancy readers.

Format

TIME: We meet for 12 weeks (if all courses are taken) via Zoom on Saturdays at 9PM, Copenhagen time. The Marseille course starts on February 7, Playing cards on March 14, and Lenormand on April 18. We take a one week break between the first and second course.

CONTENT: This set of three foundational courses features fresh and original one-hour live lectures, each including both a practice with the cards from the students and questions, if there are any. While the three foundation courses are based on Camelia’s Read like the Devil trilogy of books, she doesn’t cover the books other than by offering the gist of their argument. The course pack here charts new territory, though obviously the Read like the Devil nerve runs through it. If you’re familiar with it, you’ll recognize its tone and flavor.

MATERIAL: A recording of each class and the pdf of the course slides will be made available immediately after each live session. Prior to each the course, it is recommended that you get Camelia’s trilogy: Read Like the Devil, dedicated to each of the foundational courses here.

FACEBOOK: We have a Facebook group dedicated to the course where students can further practice the reading of cards and perform the suggested assignments. There will be select teacher feedback on the shared practices, each aiming to further a point of practical application.

WELCOME and orientation sheet: As soon as you register, you will receive both a welcome and orientation sheet, including info on how to join the FB group and the live sessions on Zoom.

CURRICULUM:

Marseille Tarot à la Carte – start: February 7

  • Session 1: Understanding the trump cards: we go through sets of trump cards and bring out their force both individually and in relation to one another

  • Session 2: Understanding the court cards: we go through the courts and point to how their functions modify both the trumps and the number cards

  • Session 3: Understanding the pip cards: we go through the number cards and look at the intensity and speed they can provide in relation to their elastic, or how far they can stretch

  • Session 4: How to hit the bull’s eye: it’s all about precision, baby…

Playing cards à la carte – start: March 14

  • Session 1: Understanding the suits: we go through the 4 suits and both compare their functions and point to their potential traps

  • Session 2: Understanding numbers: we go through 1 to 10 and relate them to both the suits they belong to and the combination that form geographies, such as ‘this one points to your bathroom…’

  • Session 3: Understanding courtly action: we go through the agency that each court card exerts as each also relates to other ranks

  • Session 4: How to cut through it: it’s all about precision, baby…

Lenormand à la carte – start: April 18

  • Session 1: Understanding the small picture: reading card combinations and small spreads

  • Session 2: Understanding the big picture: reading the larger tableaus

  • Session 3: Understanding the playing card insets: making sense of what doesn’t make sense

  • Session 4: How to tell an excellent story: it’s all about precision, baby…

CARDS: You can use any of the standard decks for this course, though preference is given to the simple design. Avoid Lenormand cards that have a loaded frame or useless details in it. If you want to use the cards from the Read like the Devil trilogy, get the Noblet tarot from Roxanne Flornoy. The playing cards and the Lenormand pack are available here.

NOTE: The registration stays open throughout the course run. This means that if you hop on board for all three courses in the middle of the three foundation courses cycle, it’s your responsibility to catch up, since there will be the possibility to download all the materials from the Facebook group. Then, if you wish, you can also participate in the discussion of the past sessions in this forum and get feedback.

Note also that, although Camelia can come across as intimidating, or what’s worse, as patronizing, neither intimidation, nor patronizing is her aim. Her aim is to participate in the creation of masterful readers who are neither fools, nor invested in fooling others.

What they say

I was raised by a plethora of witches - both dead and alive. Yet it took meeting you to truly understand and synthesize everything I was ever taught. I was truly privileged to take your foundation courses live, but of course, I have each and every book, simply to remind myself from time to time of what is truly important. We all have our methods, but what you teach clearly transcends the idiosyncrasies of our cartomantic upbringings, and underpins what is really important - clarity. I wholeheartedly recommend all three foundation books and hope for the new generations of cartomancers that the courses will be revived one way or another. I have nothing else to say than – merci, mon seul maître.

Camelia Elias transmits tarot in a way I can feel in my bones. Her two books on the subject are pure gold. And I have zero doubt this class is rich with real life magic.

— Fabeku Fatunmise, Business awesomizer and sonic alchemist

§

If you want to learn how to read Tarot by one of the most talented, creative and magical minds I know, then you MUST study with Camelia Elias. Personally, since learning Camelia’s style of reading my clarity and accuracy has improved radically. Plus, all the people who usually join are awesome in their own creative/magical way. Do it!

— Samantha Blackadder, Apothecary

§

I cannot recommend Cards and Magic highly enough. I have been reading cards for over 25 years and Camelia has completely refreshed and focused my reading style. Get in while you can… Camelia, you are a BAD WITCH, and a great teacher.

— Jason Miller, at Strategic Sorcery

§

Radiant Reading, the Marseille Tarot advanced module, was a BALL! It was a fantastic experience; I was looking forward to the live-class meetings. This is not just a tarot reading class; it’s a mind-bending philosophy course.

— Cristina Castanedo, mathematician

§

Radiant Reading was a very effective advanced course. It exposed the way that you, Camelia, actually go about doing a reading… beyond the basic concepts… deeper into the “looking”… paying attention… common sense making connections aspects of readings… even using positional spreads. It busted everything up, then put it back together again… minus belief systems and preconceptions… plus your ever present toughness.

— Charles Webb, filmmaker

The Lenormand Foundation Course was a priceless time. However it sounds—I’d pay triple for studying with Camelia! The Grand Tableau feels so much easier—I just enjoy looking at MORE cards which is a huge success! I’ve always felt like 9 cards may be more accidental than all 36 (hilarious, I know), laying pretty in their positions, so gaining confidence in reading the Grand Tableau is my beloved success. Thank you for being on this earth at the same time as me. LOVE YOU.

— Marta Spendowska, artist and painter

§

Camelia, your courses are “Open Mind Courses” and, of course, Lenormand Foundation Course had this effect on me. You show me not only how to read, but how to think. This is priceless. But what I love most is the Fearless. You teach me I have nothing to fear. Thank you so much. I think the method is amazing. And I can say that everything you show me make changes in my life. At the end of each class, I had a feeling that my brain is a little bit different. I call it the “Eureka Feeling”. I love it. A huge THANK YOU! I love your energy, and your dedication. Thank you so much for everything. And don’t forget to write my name on your list of eternal student.

— Elaine Trinidade, linguist

§

Like always, Camelia’s instruction taught me the essentials and how to use them, and how to pull it all together without getting lost or rambling down woodpaths. I cannot recommend the Advanced Lenormand course highly enough to anyone who would grasp the Grand Tableau and wield it as a powerful divinatory tool, improve their skill with Lenormand in general, and deepen their practical understanding of the principles and techniques essential to success in any and all forms of cartomancy. Camelia is truly the very best of the very best!
