Cartomantic prompts: Beauty (past cycle)
For a number of years now I’ve run cycles of 7-11-22 cartomantic prompts posted consecutively each day in a cycle on a wordpress platform. People would sign up in droves, and for a number of days be ready to be inspired by fascinating questions.

The general premise for the prompt cycles is the following: Much of what you do with cards is reflect on the questions that you bring to the table. But think of it this way: There are questions, and then there are the better questions: questions that you are conscious of, and questions that you are not conscious of.
Often the questions you are not so conscious of creep into what you see in the cards: You formulate a question to the cards, and then there’s the question that stares you in the face; the question that the cards formulate on your behalf; the question that you dodge. The cards have a nasty, but I would also say, tender and loving way of making things plain for you.
The cartomantic prompts are mini-lessons in the art of asking questions as you see them arise from the cards themselves. How do you deal with the questions that the cards formulate for you?

Beauty
Work is ugly, the neighbourhood is thick, friends are dense, the food is dull. It's a problem when we can't see a spark anywhere. It's an even worse problem when the only glitter around is the type spread by the world's magicians, aka self-help marketers, promising King Midas' touch, turning everything into gold. Ignorance is ugly...
In this series of cartomantic prompts, I'll look at how we can perceive and create beauty. The style is the same as always: I cast a string of three cards for 11 days in a row, and I read them through framing. My aim is to arrive at a question.
I'm curious to see when the 'ugly' cards have something beautiful to say, when the dense clubs show up as a manifestation of the lightness of being, and when the spades spark joy and laughter.
As something new again, I'll use the cards to cast a spell of radiance at the end, as I figure that since everyone talks about 2020 as a year of vision, it may be a good idea to hold the thought of brilliance in mind. Though, in true deconstructive style, I'm not interested in cheap enchantments, however magical and alluring they may be.
I'm interested in the concreteness of brilliance beyond the idea of alchemical gold, shadow integrations so we all can shine per commando, or giving our dull and dark sides a good polish... because that'd cool. I'm interested in looking at how balance is achieved, as with balance beauty is present by default.
In terms of action, I'll look at how the cards prompt us into formulating questions that have us distinguish between knowledge and wisdom. For instance, we may know that technically speaking 2020 is not the beginning of a new decade – that's next year, as there's no year zero – but we choose nonetheless to act as if it was, allowing for the numerical value of 19 to beautifully roll over into 20 and thus mark the end and a new beginning. Some would call this symbolic action with intent, folk magic. There's beauty in being magically correct, as there's beauty in being scientifically correct.
Let's use the cards – all sorts, from Tarot to Lenormand to playing cards and art cards, and see if we can get smarter about being in the world on a premise of discovery and recognition, rather than induced suggestions.
